In 1913 Woman suffrage procession organized by Alice Paul and Lucy Burns and led by Inez Milholland marched through Washington, D.C.
In 1917 Suffragettes organized the "Silent Sentinels" first protest outside The White House, in Washington led by Alice Paul and the National Woman's Party. Alice Paul served a 7-month jail sentence for protesting women's rights in Washington.
