description

Summary

Significance: This six-unit apartment building is significant as an example of multi family housing built to accommodate factory workers at Botany Woolen Mills during its boom years as a comprehensive wool production plant. In plan it is a smaller version of the classic "dumbbell" design often used in tenements of the period built in New York and other large urban areas.
