Aircraft. Army. The Douglas C-54 is the military version of the commercial transport DC-4 used by the airline companies. It is a four-engine low-wing monoplane designed for a long-range personnel transport. The commercial model was designed for forty day passengers and twenty-eight sleeper passengers. Its passenger carrying capacity after modifications for military service is not revealed
