Summary

Amos Doolittle's print after Robert Edge Pine's design appears to be an enlarged copy of Strutt's engraving (1781-1). It follows the original in most details, except for the figure in the medallion on the pyramid. In the Strutt version the figure seems to be Minerva and holds an unidentifiable object in each hand (possibly an owl in her left hand). In Doolittle's version the figure holds a pole with liberty cap in her left hand and a key in her right.
Trimmed to within platemark.

Published in: American political prints, 1766-1876 / Bernard F. Reilly. Boston : G.K. Hall, 1991, entry 1781-2.
