description

Summary

Significance: Carpenter Frank Wullus custom-built this building in 1937 according to the instructions of John Francisco, owner of the Club Moderne Bar and Lounge. The structure's curved exterior corner profile and tri-color carrare glass facade, designed and installed by W.P. Fuller's Paint of Butte, MT, are fine examples of streamline architecture. The interior bar has detailed woodwork and ornamental hardware which are also original to the building's construction. Judicious remodeling in 1948 included the installation of built-in tables and leather-covered booths in the rear lounge. The Club Moderne remains essentially unchanged since this later later date and retains outstanding exterior and interior decorative features which are representative of Art Moderne design.
