Summary
Significance: The Athens Gas Light and Electric Company was one of the earliest industrial enterprises that developed in the area southwest of the Athens railroad station in the mid-nineteenth century. This structure later became part of the Athens Lumber Company which did much of the millwork for Ohio University when it was built.
