Summary
Cartoon shows a man, with a donkey carrying baskets of produce, tickling a women (who is offering him a drink) under her chin. The man is jauntily dressed in knee britches and a striped vest. The woman wears a frilly bonnet and a flowered dress with large puffed sleeves. They stand in front of a shop with bottles in the window, with signs reading "RUMMY," "Dealer in," and "[?]LAIRUP." The phrase in the caption, "Ax my eye," may derive from an English ballad. George Cruikshank was a caricaturist and illustrator who is today best known for his illustrations for Oliver Twist and other works by Charles Dickens.
