Summary
Significance: The Baptist Home, one of many prominent charitable institutions erected in Brooklyn during the 19th and early 20th centuries, is an important complex built in three campaigns. Each wing was designed by an important local architect. Incorporated in 1869, the home was erected in an outlying part of the Bedford neighborhood which would soon become one of Brooklyn's prime residential areas. The initial building, erected in 1873-75, was designed by E.L. Roberts. This was followed by a large wing designed in 1901 by Parfitt Brothers, and an infirmary wing erected in 1925-26 to the designs of Helmle & Corbett.
