Summary
Significance: The town of Bodie was the result of a gold rush in 1859. By 1879, Bodie reached its pinnacle with Main Street being approximately one mile long. The typical building was a poorly constructed one or two story frame structure. By 1883, the main veins had been exhausted and the people left as suddenly as they had come.
