Bostwick Building, 1349-1305 State Street, Bridgeport, Fairfield County, CT
Summary
Significance: The Bostwick Building, built in 1886-1887, is a representative example of mixed-use, commercial/residential wood-frame urban architecture, typical of east coast industrial cities in the late-nineteenth century. The building, which modestly reflects architectural elements of the Queen Anne style, was built by William B. Bostwick, a Bridgeport real-estate developer and owner of Bostwick Button Factory, located on the adjacent block.
