Buffalo Guard Station, Office, U.S. Highway 20/191 at Buffalo River, Island Park, Fremont County, ID
Summary
Significance: Constructed by the Civilian Conservation Corps, using a standard Forest Service Region Four plan (R4-51), but with log siding rather than a specified siding type. It is thus associated with the Federal Depression recovery effort, representative of a method of construction, but also locally unique because of the siding. The office originally served a seasonal Forest Guard engaged in fire suppression in the Island Park area.
