Significance: Home of Congressman (1907-1917), Charles A. Lindbergh, Sr. and his famous aviator son, Charles, Jr. According to biographer, Bruce Larson, Charles, Sr. was an agrarian progressive and anti-trust politician was "contributed both to the national development of reform though and action, and to the tradition of American protest politics. Charles, Jr., in 1927, made history's first nonstop transatlantic flight from New York to Paris. Overnight he became the idealized "all American boy" hero of the entire nation. He published a Pulitzer Prize winning account of the flight in 1953, "The Spirit of St. Louis."
