Summary
Significance: The Lockport Controlling Works, originally consisting of a bear-trap dam and sluice gates, allowing the Sanitary District to discharge water from the Chicago Sanitary and Ship Canal into the Des Plaines River channel when necessary. The 160' bear-trap dam was reportedly the largest of its type in the world when built.
