Chickamauga Dam and powerhouse. Land side entrance to Chickamauga Powerhouse. Visitors and employees enter from the parking space which corresponds to the top level of the generating plant. Once inside, the almost continuous glass wall between the reception room and the generating hall gives the magnificent view of generators deep below. Signs in front are temporary, prohibiting access for the duration of the war. Note gantry cranes at right which operate spillway gates and are also used for the transfer of heavy equipment parts from rail, barge, or truck to the powerhouse
