Conversion. Hosiery factory. These gears were once used in the manufacture of women's stockings. Today they've been put to far more important use with their conversion to the production of mosquito netting for America's armed forces. Here, two plant engineers inspect the worm gear changeover on a loom undergoing conversion. These gears are frequently known as mesh gears, since they control the size and type of the netting mesh.
