Cooper-Lawrence House, 457-459 High Street, Burlington, Burlington County, NJ

Significance: 457 High Street was the birthplace of James Fenimore Cooper. The building was erected prior to the Revolutionary War but was not occupied by Elizabeth and William Fenimore Cooper until after the war. Cooper lived there only one year. In the southern end of the house, number 459, Captain James Lawrence, naval hero of the War of 1812, was born in 1781.
