Corner Ketch Barn, Route 290, Corner Ketch, New Castle County, DE
Summary
Significance: The Corner Ketch Barn illustrates two major themes in barn design in northern Delaware. First, English-style bank barns without forebays became a popular barn type in this area in the late 18th century; second, in the period of agricultural reform (ca. 1820-1860) these buildings were extensively enlarged and renovated to incorporate the increased functions of scientific farming.
