Significance: This single story townhouse is of a type known as a "banquette cottage" or sidewalk cottage in New Orleans. This type became popular as replacement houses, particularly in the old Creole Foubourgs of the city - the Vieux Carre, Marigny and Treme - following the second great fire in 1794.
