Cove Hydroelectric Development, Forebay & Diversion Dam, Cove Power Plant Road, Grace, Caribou County, ID
Summary
Significance: The forebay and diversion dam mark the capture point, the beginning, of the entire Cove system. The dam impounds water in the forebay, forcing it through the screen house and ultimately into the long wood and concrete flume that conveys water to the penstock and the power plant approximately 1.1 miles away. The forebay and dam are original components of the Cove Hydroelectric Development. The dam was designed with an ice chute as part of adapting it to local environmental conditions.
