Summary

Significance: The largest of the native stone houses built in the Sumner County area, Cragfont was completed circa 1802. It was the home of General James Winchester, veteran of the Revolutionary War and the War of 1812, and one of the founders of Memphis, Tennessee. The home was a center of social life from 1802 until the Civil War.
