Cranston Street Armory, Cranston Street, Providence, Providence County, RI
Summary
Significance: General William Walker garnered used his connections from high commission during the Civil War and active interest in military affairs to great effect in garnering four large armories for Rhode Island. The Cranston Street Armory is the grandest of the four, with a large drill hall flanked by castellated endpieces. (See Buildings of Rhode Island, p. 132)
