Crater Lake Lodge, Off Route 62, Klamath Falls, Klamath County, OR
Summary
Significance: In 1911 the Crater Lake Company, under the ownership of Alfred L. Parkhurst, a private concessioner, initiated construction of Crater Lake Lodge. Unfortunately, the architect(s) of the lodge and annex are unknown. Although the lodge formally opened June 28, 1915, fiscal exigencies delayed full completion until 1922 when construction commenced on the annex with completion in 1923 by the Crater Lake National Park Company. In 1981 deteriorating conditions at the lodge led to a major investigation by the National Park Service with a view toward renovation of the structure.
