Summary

Significance: This building was used as a dance hall and community center for South Pass City in the 1890's and early 1900's. This building, built c. 1890 by William Sherlock, served as a dance hall and community center for South Pass City until the 1920's when it was abandoned. In 1949 William Sherlock sold his interest in the Wolverine Lode Claim, upon which the Dance Hall stands, to James Sherlock. By verbal agreement, due to extensive mining claim disputes present under litigation, the building was conveyed to the State of Wyoming in 1966.
