DCM 0175: Anonymous, possibly French Fife in C or D-flat
Summary
Although this instrument has a key which would imply its being a flute, so-called, it is probably best to term it a fife based on the catalog information cited above. See "Fife vs. Band Flute." An 1890 catalog from Martin Thibouville aîné pictures what is essentially the same instrument as a "Fifre (...pour bataillon scolaire)."

Medium: Wood, with dark stain and dark varnish, nickel silver key and end ferrules.; 35.55 cm.
Key Holes System: 1/6 holes plus 1 key (D#) plus 2 vent holes. Modern post and rod.
Mark Maximum: No mark.
Provenance: Pawn shop, Chicago, 9 May 1921.
