Summary
Significance: The Del Rio Federal Building was planned by the U.S. Treasury Department Supervising Architect James Knox Taylor under Secretary of the Treasury Franklin MacVeagh in 1911-1912. It was designed and built at the end of a unique period for the Treasury Department, the so-called "Battle of the Eaves," a time when the Office of the Supervising Architect changed with each successor to reflect individual preference for various historical styles, causing each office holder to "improve" or "correct" the work of his predecessor...
