Summary

Significance: The Dobbs Ford Bridge is the oldest metal truss bridge built for vehicular traffic in the State. It is an early Pratt pony truss bridge and contains two unusual design features: "beaded T" angles and patented end chord connections. Also, it is only one of two bridges inventoried in Tennessee that are known to have been built by the significant Wrought Iron Bridge Company.
