Dogs, pots & cucumbers for sale. Moscow

Drawing shows an outdoor market in Moscow. A beleagered man in top hat and long coat, perhaps Taylor himself, tries to fend off three vendors: one holds dogs by the scruff of their necks, another offers a small cooking pot and a third, on his knees holds a cucumber. Bayard Taylor served as charg d'affaires of the Russian legation from 1862 to 1863.
