Significance: It was designed by John G. Williams in 1952, is located on a sloping site adjacent to the University of Arkansas. The site overlooks the scenic Boston Mountains. The residence cantilevers over the sloping site framing the view. The house was designed for David Durst, head of the Art Department at the University of Arkansas, and his family.
Architect John Williams let his intuition and sense of collaboration drive his design. Williams felt it was important that his clients had a deep rapport with nature and share his architectural design sensibility. Being very in tune with nature, Williams truly cherished the design process which subsequently allowed him to design a simple flat roofed structure nestled into its surroundings and into its more traditional neighborhood context...
