Summary

Birds-eye view engraving shows battlefield with large numbers of fighting troops. In the foreground are soldiers on horseback with guns and swords, some fallen soldiers and horses are seen. In the middle and right foreground are depicted the Prince Eugene, the Duke of Marlborough and the crown prince Frederick of Hessen Cassel (later known as Fredrik I of Sweden] and other officers on horseback. Smoke rises from "Blindheim" near Höchstädt, Germany and in numerous places around the battlefield. Inset picture within text shows eagle attacking another eagle and two robbers attacking two men with a motto on ribbons: "Gib was mein und nicht dein ist. Recht muss Recht bleiben. Geh hin wo du herkom[men]" [Give me what is mine and not yours. Right remains right. Go back where you came from]. Falling feathers refer to past imperial battles in Ulm, Neuburg, Donauwörth, Landau, Lauingen, Dettingen, Breisach, Strassburg, Biberach, Ravensburg and Kempten. The August 13, 1704 battle of Blenheim took place during the War of Spanish Succession.
