Summary

These records were prepared as part of the Mohawk-Hudson Area Survey, a pilot study for the Historic American Engineering Record, which was established in 1969 under the aegis of the Historic American Buildings Survey.
Significance: One of the major aqueducts of the enlarged Erie Canal, the Schoharie Aqueduct replaced the difficult slackwater crossing of the Schoharie Creek.
