Eugene O'Neill House, Swimming Pool Bathhouse, Kuss Road, Danville, Contra Costa County, CA

description

Summary

Significance: This building serves the function of a dressing room and restroom area for guests using the pool. It is located adjacent to the pool and somewhat downhill from and to the north of Tao House. This is a rectangular wood-frame structure, 12 feet wide and 34 feet long. It occupies the space at the uphill or southwest end of the swimming pool. The original building, which is as long as the pool is wide, contains two generous dressing rooms for men and women, each of which would accommodate six or eight people at once with ease. There are as well two bathrooms, each with a shower, a WC and lavatory. A single hot water heater serves both spaces. The building now has a nonoriginal space which holds a wet bar.
