Summary
Significance: This United States Army post, Fort Duncan, located on the Rio Grande line of defense, was established during the period of the Mexican War and built in 1849 to repel Indian invasions, to keep Mexican Indians out of the United States and to keep American Indians from making excursions into Mexico.
