Significance: The only remaining single residence on Officers Row, the second of its type removed in 1956 for the Air Defense installation on Washington Avenue. Designed for use of one senior officer's family, this is the most elaborately detailed building on the post. Completed May 31, 1904, from QMGO Plan No. 145-A. Original cost: $11,318. Dimensions of main body: 34' x 32', rear wing 24' x 22'. Two and one-half story plus basement frame construction on sandstone and brick foundation. Lapped cedar siding. Asphalt shingles replaced slate on cross-gabled roof in 1966. Two corbelled chimneys served three corner fireplaces. Two-over-two, double-hung sash, "Palladian" and round-arched windows in attic. Broad columned verandah at front and side is partially glazed. Main and porch cornices are dentilled with plain friezes. Turned porch balustrade remains in place. Interior has side stair hall with corner oak-trimmed staircase. Third floor is finished with tongue-in-groove panelling and painted fir floors. Overmantles removed (date unknown). Kitchen and bath updated. Coal-fired boiler removed in 1941. Electricity replaced mineral oil lighting ca. 1908. Maple floors installed on ground floor in 1937. Exterior cast-iron porch step railings replaced with wrought iron in recent years.
