Foundry and Pattern Shop, Second & Groner Streets, Keyport, Kitsap County, WA

description

Summary

Significance: It is associated with the accelerated development of the station during mobilization for WWII, and is one of 29 major buildings constructed or renovated at that time. It has been used as a foundry and pattern and heat treatment shop. Unusual for an Art Moderne building is the lot-pitch gable roof and the flat wing roof. Except for a small, gable roof added later of the front entryway, the integrity of the original design and details has generally been retained.
