Significance: The GIddings-Wilkin House was built in 1843 as a 1-1/2 story residence by Jabez Deming Giddings for bride, Ann Tarver. Between 1860 and 1872 the house was enlarged to a full two story structure with bay windows and front porch on the first floor and an attached kitchen in the rear. The main house has a zinc-lined recessed roof-reservoir behind a deep cornice. The collected rainwater provided insulation and fire protection, and fed an underground cistern for use in the home.
