Summary
Significance: The Hamilton Street Dam is an integral part of the Lehigh Canal, which was of major economic importance in the development of industry in the Lehigh Valley in the nineteenth century. The V-shaped, wooden and rock crib dam provided all the water needed to operate the canal's Section 7 which passes through Allentown and Bethlehem.
