Harold S. Gladwin Residence, Garage, 780 El Bosque Road, Montecito, Santa Barbara County, CA
Summary
Significance: In the 1990s, Isabelle Greene was engaged, together with Andy Neumann, in remodeling of the George Washington Smith garage; turning the easternmost portion into a studio space (later becoming two-story) used by one of the Lovelace sons as a music studio and later as a guest facility. Designed in an English Revival style to blend with the remaining portion of the garage and the main house, Greene designed a decomposed granite terrace at the rear of the remodel/addition surrounded by natural sandstone rocks that supported the slope behind the building.
