Summary
Significance: Harshman Bridge is one of seven Childs trusses in the United States. Patented in 1846 by Horace Childs of New Hampshire, the Childs truss never came into the mainstream of covered bridge building, but Everett S. Sherman, an Ohio bridge builder, revived its use in the late nineteenth century.
