Hellgrammites and crawfish in the bottom of a bucket

Hellgrammites and crawfish in the bottom of a bucket

description

Summary

Hellgrammites, also known as "grampus," are the larva of the dobson fly. They first hatch in late spring and hide under rocks from would-be predators, such as red-eye, bass, walleye, and other game fish native to Coal River. Fishermen in the region capture hellgramites to use as bait.
