Summary

Significance: ...The house was designed in a restrained Queen Anne style. The interiors and detailing are more elaborate, exhibiting more typical Queen Anne and Eastlake elements. The prominent architectural feature in the squared, three-story tower that Middaugh used to survey his livestock and real estate holdings. Throughout its history, the Middaugh house has served as a residence, dormitory, home for the elderly, school, meeting place and parish office. Through these carious occupancies the house has remained mostly unchanged. The only major alteration was the addition of the sleeping porch on the southern portion of the building between 1928 and 1939 when the home was used as a home for senior citizens. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978. The current owner is Notre Dame Parish...
