Significance: The Horton Mill Bridge is one of three surviving covered bridges in Blount County, Alabama, one of the last strongholds of covered bridge building in the United States. Spanning an impressive 70-foot-deep gorge, the structure is noteworthy as the nation's "highest" covered bridge.
