Indiana Solon holds record. Washington, D.C. Aug. 31. What is believed to be a record for staying on the job is held by Rep. Louis Ludlow, Democrat of Indiana. A member of Congress since 1929, Ludlow has never gone back to his state during recesses but has remained on the job at the capitol. He is a former president of the National Press Club and was the first newspaper correspondent to go directly from the press gallery to a seat in Congress. 8/31/37
