description

Summary

Title, date and keywords based on information provided by the photographer.
The mission was stablished in 1731 after an earlier parish in East Texas was abandoned due to French and American Indian incursions in that area. After its relocation most of the people in the mission were Pajalats who spoke a Coahuiltecan language. Founded by Franciscan friars, this is the best preserved of the Texas missions.
