Significance: Building No. 8 is located at the north end of the parade ground, and is one of four buildings that comprise the quadrangle of enlisted men's quarters. It features a hipped roof, two story surrounding Doric colonnade, and second story surrounding gallery. Like the Officers' Quarters, the living space was on the top floor, and the ground floor was used for cooking and dining. During the 1870s, the average occupancy of each enlisted quarters was 45 men. The doors and windows were reported as, "large...and no ill effects are known to arisen from want of air space." More recently, Building No. 8 has been used as a private residence at Jackson Barracks.
