James Poff House, Paradise Road, Smithville, Clay County, MO
Summary
Significance: A frame bungalow constructed ca. 1918. Such features as the shallow gable porch roof supported by battered columns, the extended eaves with exposed rafters and simple bracket supports, and shed dormers make this a good example of a regional interpretation of the bungalow style. Like the exterior, the interior woodwork reflects the influence of the Arts and Crafts Movement and the possibilities of its incorporation in a modest rural dwelling.
