Significance: Located in the southern region of the Texas Hill Country, the County of Kendall was established in 1862, with the city of Boerne as its seat. In August of 1869, Kendall County commissioners appointed Philip Zoeller to design the county's first courthouse. Construction began in late 1869, with J.F. Stendbach as the general contractor. The courthouse was to be 50 feet by 32 feet, with 18-inch think masonry walls and one story high. By July of 1870 Kendall County's first courthouse was completed.
