Lewis Cass, Democratic candidate for president
Summary
Print shows a campaign banner for Democratic candidates Lewis Cass and William O. Butler produced for the 1848 presidential election. The banner is designed in a horizontal format, similar to Currier's "Zachary Taylor" banner (no. 1848-10). Bust portraits of the two candidates, silhouetted against the sky, are framed by oval wreaths of oak leaves and acorns. Above, perched on a globe marked "America," is a bald eagle holding an olive branch in its beak.
The Library's impression of the print was deposited for copyright on August 12, 1848.
