Little Nemo in Slumberland. I'm going home and leave you fellows, if you don't go soon! / Winsor McCay.

Four panels from a nine-panel comic strip. The first panel shows Little Nemo and some of his friends, including the dwarf Flip and the cannibal Impy, all lightly clothed, investigating the entrance to an igloo. In the second panel, they enter and appropriate the fur garments therein. The eighth panel shows a big explosion, and the last panel shows Little Nemo waking up, having fallen out of bed. Little Nemo, first published by Winsor McCay in October 1905 in The New York Herald, featured a small boy who traveled in his dreams each night to another world, Slumberland, where he had fabulous adventures. The strip was notable for its delicate drawings, fantastic architecture, and brilliant use of color. Each strip concluded with Little Nemo waking up in his own bed.
