Summary
summary: This house was built by William Story in 1859. He was subsequently killed by American Indians in 1868. Nutter took the house in 1869. In 1977, Carl Smith of the Custer County Historical Society observed: "[The] High building to extreme right is a reservoir. The water level is probably about 1/2 of the way up. The remaining portion is filled with air to keep the water cool. The structure probably extends somewhat below the ground."
