Summary
Rives, a corpulent man half in the form of a peacock, sports a compass around his neck and numerous medallions around his waist. He takes a bow, while holding a hoop in one hand through which several cherubic figures with wings are about to jump.

Gustave Rives was the organizer and administrator of France's Salons de l'Automobile beginning with its inception in 1898. He was the chief architect of many civic buildings, the director of the French committee for foreign expositions, and was the recipient of a multitude of honors.
